316 IS AN AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL KNOWN FOR ITS SUPERIOR CORROSION RESISTANCE, ESPECIALLY IN CHLORIDE AND MARINE ENVIRONMENTS. WITH THE ADDITION OF MOLYBDENUM, IT OFFERS IMPROVED RESISTANCE TO PITTING AND CREVICE CORROSION COMPARED TO 304. IT IS WIDELY USED IN AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENTS INCLUDING MARINE, CHEMICAL, AND PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRIES. 316 STAINLESS IS EASILY WELDED AND FORMED.
