General
CORROSION RATES ARE LOW, ESPECIALLY IN RAPIDLY FLOWING BRACKISH OR SEAWATER. MONEL® 400 ALSO OFFERS EXCELLENT RESISTANCE TO STRESS-CORROSION CRACKING IN FRESHWATER. AS A SOLID-SOLUTION ALLOY, IT CAN BE HARDENED BY COLD WORKING. IT COMBINES GOOD WELDABILITY, HIGH STRENGTH, AND RETAINS ITS PROPERTIES AT SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES. SUITABLE FOR HIGH-TEMPERATURE USE UP TO 1000°F, MONEL® 400’S COPPER CONTENT MAKES IT A COST-EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE TO PURE NICKEL.
