General
MATERIAL TO UNS S32760 IS A SUPER DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL WITH A BALANCED 50:50 AUSTENITE AND FERRITE MICROSTRUCTURE. IT COMBINES HIGH MECHANICAL STRENGTH (UP TO 570 MPA YIELD STRENGTH) WITH GOOD DUCTILITY AND EXCELLENT CORROSION RESISTANCE IN MARINE ENVIRONMENTS. THE ALLOY HAS A GUARANTEED PREN OF 40.0 OR HIGHER, PROVIDING EXCELLENT RESISTANCE TO PITTING CORROSION. IT ALSO OFFERS STRONG RESISTANCE TO CREVICE CORROSION AND STRESS CORROSION CRACKING. GOOD NOTCH DUCTILITY IS MAINTAINED AT BOTH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES AND DOWN TO -50°C. THESE PROPERTIES MAKE IT A SUITABLE ALTERNATIVE TO 300 SERIES STAINLESS STEELS (SUCH AS TYPE 316), STANDARD 22% CR DUPLEX STAINLESS STEELS (SUCH AS UNS S31803 / 1.4462 WITH A PREN OF 33–34), AND PRECIPITATION-HARDENING STAINLESS STEELS (SUCH AS 17/4PH).
